Backstreet Boys “The Call” 20 Years Later

Festival d'ete de Quebec - Day 4I’m not sure if this ruins my favorite BSB song, or makes it even better. Backstreet Boys sat down with Billboard to chat about the 20th anniversary of their debut album Backstreet Boys, & each member shared some memories. Although the focus was supposed to be on their debut album, AJ McLean couldn’t help but telling a story from Black & Blue, “The Call.” “You know what, there is one that I’m probably going to get in trouble for,” McLean acknowledged before getting into the crux of the story, which involves super-producer Max Martin (who mixed the song). “So when we were in the studio with Max making the song “The Call,” Howie was in the booth and we were doing that vocal break down, [ sings] ‘ dun dun dun, dun dun dun dun.’ Max gave Howie his harmony, and I think he was just putting so much air into the vocal that as he was singing, he went ‘dun, dun’ and he farted — but he farted not only on the beat, but in key. So Max tweaked it and made it sound like one of his patented bass sounds, and it stayed on the record.” “Howie’s fart became an instrument and is on the record for the rest of our lives.” And after telling the full story, McLean gave Martin some credit for his masterful mixing: “[Max] could turn a fart into a bass sound, that’s pretty damn genius if you ask me.” Billboard couldn’t let this go with out some clarification, ” I plead the fifth to say anything,” Dorough initially says, laughing, before deciding to back himself up. “I’m sure there were a lot of beverages consumed back in the day. It’s one of those kind of things… Everybody at that age — especially Nick — was constantly passing gas, just being young 20-year-old guys doing guy locker room kind of stuff. And coincidentally, I got in the booth, was breathing in really heavily singing my part, and I guess some extra air kind of came out. It made everybody laugh, and Max decided to take that and sample it to turn it into the ‘ dun dun dun, dun dun dun dun.'” Max was onto something because Howie’s fart is the most intense part of the entire song! “If it was me, the guys can definitely thank me for that,” Dorough laughs, “and thank what was consumed the night before singing those songs.” Well… That has definitely changed the entire song for me!

Conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh criticized what he called “wimpism” on the part of the Washington, D.C. establishment for asking President Donald Trump to tone down his rhetoric on North Korea.

Speaking on his radio show Thursday, Limbaugh said there is no reason to be afraid of North Korea, describing Kim Jong Un’s regime as a “zit on the butt of a pig,” Fox News reported.

Limbaugh slammed congressmen from both parties who have warned that Trump’s tough talk could inflame tensions with North Korea and perhaps trigger a war.

“What does this mean?” Limbaugh said. "It means that 'wimpism' has taken over the Washington establishment, that 'wussism' and 'wimpism' and 'pajama boyism' has taken over."

Limbaugh said North Korea may have nuclear weapons, but they "can’t hit the side of a barn" with them, Fox News reported.

"What are we supposed to do, just sit here and wait until the real one is airborne and hope that being gentle and compassionate and unprovocative will stop this lunatic from doing what he’s doing? Is that what we’re to believe here?" Limbaugh asked.

Friday morning, Trump tweeted that the United States military was “locked and loaded” if North Korea decided to take military action.

Justin Bieber Refuses To Apologize To Tour Crew After Cancelling Purpose Tour

bieberNot only were Beliebers upset after Justin cancelled the remainder of his Purpose Tour, his crew who were hired to work on the production were also caught off guard. Employees at 14 different venues, along with the crew members that have toured with Justin for the entire tour, from setting up, catering, etc, will now be out of work. Justin refuses to issue an apology. Justin was pretty defensive when a reporter mentioned that he let down a lot of people, including the crew members. He even had his pal, Patrick Schwarzenegger, stop the car in the middle of the street so Justin could explain himself! “It’s not MY staff,” he insisted. “Somebody that works on the tour isn’t my staff!” He was adamant that people who work on the tour aren’t part of his payroll, so he has no reason to apologize to them. He did issue an apology to fans. “Sorry to anybody who feels disappointed or betrayed,” he said. “It’s not in my heart or anything.” He also insisted that “everything’s fine,” and offered no specific reason for the cancellation. Stadium shows in Texas, California, Colorado, Minneapolis, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Toronto, Tokyo, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Singapore were affected by Justin’s decision to end the tour early. Justin Bieber Cancels Remainder of Purpose Tour Because of Christ

Justin Bieber cancelled the remainder of his Purpose tour & no one knew why, until today. Apparently, Biebs pulled the plug on his Purpose tour because he “rededicated his life to Christ” sources connected to Hillsong Church have said. Bieber’s decision seemed to come out of the blue, but sources say it was squarely based on what Bieber believes is religious enlightenment. Bieber said he canceled due to exhaustion, but that’s simply not true. We’re also told Bieber’s crew is “incredibly pissed off at him” because it has impacted their financial well-being without any warning. Bieber has been virtually joined at the hip with Hillsong pastor Carl Lentz over the last few months — including at a huge church event in Australia — but we’re told Lentz did not advocate for cancelling the tour.

Aaron Carter Says He & Brother Nick May Never Reconcile

Aaron Carter was arrested this past weekend in Georgia on charges of DUI refusal, possession of marijuana less than one ounce, and possession of drug related objects. That was just the tip of the iceberg for the pop star. Following his arrest, his older brother, Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter, tweeted his concern & offered his help. The 29 year old sat down with ET in an exclusive interview to discuss his arrest & his rift with his older brother, which he says is basically non- existent now. “Nick made no efforts to call me, and he knows how to reach me,” Aaron shared. Aaron wasn’t appreciative of his big bro’s gesture & released a statement through his rep after being released on $4,610 bail. “If my own blood (Nick) truly cared about my well-being, why wouldn’t he call me directly and have a conversation instead of making this about him through a very public forum?” According to Aaron, his brother had a number of ways to get in touch with him — including calling him in jail — but opted not to pursue them. Aaron admitted that he has no desire to accept any assistance from Nick for his personal or professional life. “I don’t need Nick’s help. I don’t need that. I don’t need help,” he insisted. “What I need is for people to understand that I’m human and I make mistakes just like every other human in this world.” The “Sooner or Later” singer also expressed doubt that he and Nick will ever be able to find peace between them. “I think there’s too much animosity,” he explained. “There’s too much conflict of interest.” Aaron is not completely opposed to a reconciliation. “I will always love you. And I will always have forgiveness in my heart for you. And before you read tabloids and you make assumptions, you should reach out to me.””A broken man. Broken. Heartbroken,” he said through tears. “Four days of no sleep. Guarding my girlfriend [Madison Parker] outside of a car, making sure she was safe. Driving all over the United States of America. Trying to get to my radio shows. Doing the best that I can. Trying to show up, so people don’t give up on me again.” Among those he says have given up on him the most, Aaron said his brother and “a lot of my fans.” According to Madison, both Nick and Angel, Aaron’s twin sister, have been pushing for Aaron to undergo an intervention. “They think that he’s rotting and that he needs an intervention and he needs help and he’s gonna die soon and all these horrible things that are not true,” Madison said. “They [don’t] care to call or even check into see how he’s doing.” “They could call and say, ‘Hey, we’re worried about you. We love you. Can we see each other? Do you want to go grab lunch?’ Simple things,” she added.
