Aaron Maxwell and Friends
Aaron Maxwell is best known for his work with God Street Wine. God Street Wine formed in New York in 1988. In helping to form the early jam band scene, they played alongside bands like the Black Crowes, Dave Matthews Band, Blues Traveler and the Spin Doctors. They joined the H.O.R.D.E. Tour traveling festival in the '90s, recorded five studio albums, and performed more than 1,000 shows in their 11 years together. They split up in 1999, but have reunited occasionally since 2010, including August 2013 shows in the New York area at Brooklyn Bowl and the Capitol Theatre, and a string of California shows over the last two years years that saw the Grateful Dead's Bob Weir and Phil Lesh joining God Street Wine onstage. Along with his work with GSW, Aaron plays with the gypsy jazz band Metropolitan Hot Club, and has written and/or performed with various artists in and around New York City. Most recently, Aaron has played with Jason Crosby and Reid Genauer, and was a part of the The Last Waltz Live at the Highline Ballrom. Aaron Maxwell and Friends will draw from these many collaborations, and will include Paul Frazier (David Byrne) on Bass, Peter Levin (Blind Boys of Alabama) on Keyboards, Dave Diamond (Assembly of Dust) on Drums, and some more special guests.
