Installing energy efficient streetlights is an excellent investment with significant environmental benefits for most municipalities. Come hear from municipalities that have captured this opportunity using different strategies - and join your municipal colleagues in a discussion about bringing the benefits of this opportunity to your municipality more easily, and at lower cost, through an inter-municipal collaboration.Presentations will include:Getting Started: Streetlight Inventories and Operations. In this segment, ownership, maintenance and billing of streetlights in both NYSEG and ConEd territories will be briefly reviewed by Mike Caton of Computel Consultants.
Case Study: Town of Eastchester - Updating the Streetlight Inventory. Town Board member Frederick Salanitro shares Eastchester's experience updating the streetlight inventory and receiving a substantial utility credit.
Case Study: Village of Dobbs Ferry - LED Streetlight Replacement. Mayor Hartley Connett will share how this Rivertown village developed the project and financed and installed LED streetlights using municipal resources. Finally, learn how the contract was structured to enable neighboring municipalities to easily purchase from the Dobbs Ferry contract.
Case Study: The City of Yonkers - LED Streetlight Project Brad Tito, Director of Sustainability for the City of Yonkers will detail this exciting project through which all 12,000 streetlights, of various technologies, will be replaced with LED. Structured as an energy performance contract, gross energy savings over ten years will exceed $18 million with net savings guaranteed to exceed $9.5 million over that term. This single project will also reduce the carbon footprint of government operations by almost 10%.This event will conclude with a discussion about next steps to facilitate projects by other municipalities who can benefit from projects already undertaken by Westchester municipalities.
