The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Paul Manafort, former campaign chairman for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, has resigned, according to reports.

Manafort left the job in the wake of stories regarding his involvement in Ukraine political campaigns. It also comes days after he was replaced as campaign chairman.

“This morning Paul Manafort offered, and I accepted, his resignation from the campaign," Trump said in a release. "I am very appreciative for his great work in helping to get us where we are today, and in particular his work guiding us through the delegate and convention process. Paul is a true professional and I wish him the greatest success.”

Manafort's firm was involved with covert lobbying in support of a pro-Russian political party in the Ukraine, The Associated Press reported Thursday. Manafort and another employee never disclosed that they worked as foreign agents as required under federal law.

Two new top campaign officials were also added to Trump's team earlier this week.
