Whether she’s live on the radio or rockin’ the mic at all of the various night clubs, Astra truly lives up to the meaning of her name. She IS the "star" that NOW shines during the day. Formerly known as Astra "After Dark" on Long Island’s #1 Hit Music Station, 106.1 BLI , she has taken over the Island by storm! Astra is also known as a Social Media Queen! From Facebook, to Twitter, to Foursquare, she keeps you updated 24/7!

Astra, a native New Yorker, was born and lived in Manhattan, and on Long Island. Since the age of 2, Astra has always been in the limelight. She started as a print work model with her priceless smile, which eventually led into television work with roles on MTV, and HBO - to name a few. She graduated from Molloy College with a B.A. in Communications, and a minor in Spanish and landed her first job at News 12 Long Island. The entertainment world started grabbing at her and with a growing love for music, and celebrity gossip, she later landed her first on air gig at WXXP - Party 105.3 where she did middays for a few years. As the celebrity interviews started to roll in by the dozens, her love for various types of music began to grow, and she later picked up afternoons at their sister station, WLIR. Her next step was New York City. She became the Morning Show Producer for WNEW- The New Mix 102.7 where she worked with Michelle Visage and Joe Causi.

While working full time in Manhattan, she connected with a well known voice over company and began doing voice work and parodies for radio stations in the tri-state area. Since then she has been doing various voice over work for radio and television commercials nationwide! She rocked the BLI night show from 2005-2010 and after 5 years she has now been moved up to tackle the midday slot continuing to live her dream rockin’ the airwaves every weekday on 106.1 BLI from 9am-2pm.

Favorite Celebrity's that I've either interviewed or met: Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, Donnie Klang, Jesse McCartney, Sean Kingston, Katy Perry, Reina, Akon, The Fray, Neyo, Enrique Iglesias, Jonas Brothers, Fergie, Lumidee, LL Cool J, Jes from Motorcycle, Lucas Prata, D.H.T., Coro, Kim Sozzi, Carl Thomas, Dannii Minogue, and my boy Fatman Scoop.

Favorite Music: let's just say basically everything played on BLI!! LOL I love to DANCE so basically any music that I can dance to including Dance/Techo, as well as Hip hop and R&B. I'm also a HUGE Freestyle Freak, love a lot of stuff from the 80's and Rock has just started growing on me.

Favorite TV Show: I love EVERYTHING gossip...so I love everything on VH1, E!, and MTV. Mark my words...ONE DAY I will take Ryan Seacrest's job!! LOL I also like TMZ, and I do watch some REGULAR news - I'm a fan of Channel 11 and Fox 5. I'm also a BIG cartoon lover...so you can catch me watching the Cartoon Network when Adult Swim is on, and I'm a HUGE Family Guy fan! (Hey...who ever said that you HAD to grow up?!?) I also love Millionaire Matchmaker all thanks to my BFF and I hate to admit this but I LOVE the Jersey Shore!! I guess I'm a reality show junkie! Keeping up With the Kardashians is one of my all time favorites - I feel like I'm Kim Kardashian's BFF (she just doesn't know it yet) LOL

Favorite Long Island Restaurant: I love seafood, Italian, Spanish, Greek, and Sushi. I LOVE Vincent's Clam Bar in Carle Place, Four Food Studios and Cocktail Salon in Melville, Two Steak and Sushi Den in New Hyde Park, Restaurant 388 in Roslyn, and during the summer, it's all about the Nautical Mile in Freeport and I LOVE Landshark, Blue 42, and Hudson & McCoy!

Favorite Places to Shop: It's a toss up between Roosevelt Field Mall and Smithaven Mall, but I'm a huge fan of Guess, Bebe, Express, Metropark, Victoria Secret, Forever 21, Arden B and when it come to my make-up...I'm a MAC girl all the way!! Check out my girl Anita at the Mac store in Smithaven Mall - she's the BEST!

Favorite Car: It would have to be MY CAR the Infiniti G37 Convertible, fully loaded with GPS from Infiniti of Massapequa (I've gotten my past 3 cars there and LOVE Infiniti)!! If i was able to get a 2nd car...I'd LOVE to get a nice white Range Rover...it would be PERFECT to get me through the snow...ahhh maybe one day!

If I didn't live on Long Island, I'd live: In Manhattan OF COURSE – I'm a TOTAL CITY GIRL!!! However...I am also a HUGE fan of Los Angeles and if I didn't work in radio, I'd be working on air in Television (my other passion - preferably on something like E! News, Access Hollywood or Extra)

Hobbies: I spend a lot of time keeping up to date with my Facebook and Twitter - which is why I'm known as a Social Media Queen. But when I'm not doing that stuff...I love to travel, I love seeing and trying new things, I also love spending time with my family and friends and going out to dinners, movies, and hanging out by the beach (when it's warm). I'm trying to motivate myself to go to the gym more...and I'm DYING to try ZUMBA!!!!

Thank-You: So many people have helped to get me to the point I'm at. First and foremost, my family – they have been there since day 1 dealing with the ups and downs...but in the end it always works out for the best. My closest friends for sticking by me...even when I would rarely have time to see them – THOSE are true friends! Drew Scott –the first person to introduce me to field of broadcasting by giving me my first job and believing in me. Andre Ferro – my friend and 1st PD who believed in me and gave me the opportunity to make me what I am today and JJ Rice, my PD, John Shea, my GM and Nancy Cambino, my OM – who have all believed in me and supported me and have allowed me to continue to pursue my dream on a daily basis.
