Foods you think are healthy, but they might not be!

By Dana DiDonato

From Cafemom:

Low-Fat Milk

Apparently whole is better for you, so start changing your latte to a fatty from a skinny! The amount of fat you're avoiding is negligible, but the amount of vitamins A, D, E, & K you get from whole is far better than skim, or low-fat milk. So whole milk keeps your bones healthy, your immune system strong, and skim milk doesn't do much.

Sugar Substitutes

I think we all kind of know that real stuff is better than fake, but did you know that low-calorie artificial sugar is actually making you gain weight? Put down the diet soda!

Oatmeal & Whole Grains

People are developing nickel allergies thanks to eating lots of whole grains, soy, and good old-fashioned oat meal. It's called too much of a good thing, and it will give you a rash.

Soy

In addition to the possible hormonal side effects, eating lots of tofu and edamame can give you lots of toxins in your system that interfere with digestion and the absorption of minerals.

Gluten-Free

Eating processed gluten-free foods could make you super fat.
