100% Capacity At The Coliseum For The Islanders’ Playoff Run?

Saturday May 8th marks the last regular season game at the Nassau Coliseum & the Islanders will then focus their attention to the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. With capacity at the Coliseum being raised only to 30% on May 19th, Nassau County Executive Laura Curran is asking Governor Cuomo for a little help in getting that number up just a bit. Curran has given the Governor two options, one of which could see 100% capacity at the Coliseum.

Option 1 would be 50% capacity with a mix of vaccinated & non-vaccinated fans. The non-vaccinated fans would have to provide proof of a negative Covid test.

Option 2 would be 100% capacity, but only for vaccinated fans.

Now, option 1 does seem to be the most fair, BUT as an Islanders fan, I really think 100% capacity of fully vaccinated fans is the way to go. That arena is one of the most electrifying in sports & to have a packed building for the Islanders championship run in the LAST season at the Coliseum? That would be epic!

No word from the Governor’s office just yet, but Islanders nation waits with bated breath.
