Move over, Manhattan — apparently Long Island is where the real VIP living is happening.
A new U.S. News & World Report ranking says Long Island snagged THREE of New York’s top seven places to live, with Massapequa Park taking the crown for the second year in a row, Hicksville sliding in at No. 3, and Lindenhurst repping Suffolk County at No. 7. Basically: if you’ve ever bragged about your town at a backyard barbecue, this is your moment.
The rankings looked at things like jobs, commute times, quality of life, cost of living, and desirability — which is funny because if Long Islanders made the list, we probably would’ve added “bagel quality,” “availability of parking near the train,” and “how aggressively neighbors judge your lawn.”
Massapequa Park reportedly scored big thanks to jobs, income, and commute factors, while Hicksville and Lindenhurst also earned praise for strong job markets and suburban appeal. Translation: yes, your taxes are painful, but at least now you can dramatically say, “I live in one of New York’s BEST places to suffer paying them.”
