Actor Nick Barrotta joins the Tangorra Takeover

Huntington’s own and star of Tyler Perry’s drama series “The Oval”, Nick Barrotta sat down with “Tangorra Takeover” host, Nick Tangorra to talk all about when we can expect Season 4 and how Tyler Perry changed the course of his entire career.

“This is kind’ve a dream-come-true to me.” The Walt Whitman Highschool and Hofstra University graduate explained how special it was to be on his hometown station, 106.1 BLI. “I grew up listening to BLI. I remember just driving to college to take these broadcast journalism classes while listening to BLI...It’s kinda surreal being back in the studio and I’m just happy to be here.”

Prior to his massive success on BET’s “The Oval”, Barrotta was making a name for himself across the industry walking in fashion shows for New York Fashion Week and hosting red carpets interviewing celebrities such as the Kardashians and John Legend. Additionally, he spent a few years working in a televised courtroom. While working as the “Bae-liff” on Divorce Court with Judge Lynn Toler, Nick Barrotta was on the studio lot breaking for lunch when he saw Tyler Perry. “He was meeting people just shaking hands and I was waiting my turn... and I got that moment with him,” the moment the actor credits to changing the entire course of his career. “I told him I had bigger dreams and bigger aspirations and he heard me because it was only a few months later where he gave me the call and told me that he had an idea for me to come down to Atlanta and audition for one of his shows.”

Barrotta did in fact go to that audition, landing him the role of Allan Maxwell. “It’s crazy... I talk about this moment a lot because it really was when things changed for me. I think about it alot because it really was a real shift in my life. He’s (Tyler Perry) changed my life. I know it sounds cliché, but that one handshake really changed things for me.”

Written, directed and executive produced by Tyler Perry, “The Oval” is a political drama series. It tells the story of U.S President Hunter Franklin and first lady Victoria Franklin, a power-hungry interracial couple, who present a perfect facade to the world while indulging in wildly scandalous behavior behind closed doors. Not to be outdone, their children -- Gayle and Jason -- bring their own brands of volatility and excess to the Executive Residence. The soap opera-style series also tells the stories of White House staff members whose lives become intertwined with those of the first family. Head butler Richard Hallsen is an ex-serviceman who struggles to maintain his integrity in the face of greed and corruption. In “The Oval,” Tyler Perry supercharges the political genre with off-the-charts levels of scandal, sex, depravity and betrayal.

“Season 4, and I’m not just saying this is going to be the best season hands down. Just from the drama standpoint, which never lacks, but that’s even at an all time high. The action, the story lines... it’s all really incredible in Season 4 so I’m really excited to see the fans’ response.”

As far as when we can expect to see the upcoming season, Nick exclusively told the “Tangorra Takeover” that they have already wrapped up filming, but no release date has been announced yet. We will keep our eyes peeled! In the meantime, you can watch Seasons 1 - 3 of “The Oval” on BET and on BET.com !
