AJ McLean from the Backstreet Boys, stops by BLI to chat with Cat!

And he took the LIRR.

AJ McLean from the Backstreet Boys (Cat)

AJ Mclean from the Backstreet Boys stopped by BLI to talk all things about his new album, ‘My name is Alexander James.’ And....he took the LIRR to the station (we didn’t see that coming on our 2026 bingo card!)

AJ, as he is commonly known, would like to reintroduce himself to the world as his best self, Alex. This comes after deep work and growth he has done on himself through the years. Alex joined Cat in-studio and opened up about his journey through rehab, his marriage, his relationship with his children and fellow bandmates. Alex noted he is in the best place of his life currently. He talked about the evolution from AJ of the Backstreet Boys, to Alex - the now fully sober man he is today.

McLean spoke about his new music, stating the album is a true labor of love, taking 4 years to complete, featuring 17 tracks on the album. He has described the album akin to being a personal diary, in terms of how raw and emotional he got.

He also opened up about the support he received from his former bandmates, the Backstreet Boys, his new tattoo’s and even completed a boyband draft, with Cat! Did he pick his bandmates, in his personal boyband? Watch to find out below!
