Ally Ali Reviews: Prince of Egypt at The Argyle Theatre

Prince of Egypt running at The Argyle Theatre now through June 7th

Mother’s Day this weekend was the perfect time to head out to see some local theater, and if you are debating whether or not to see Prince of Egypt at Argyle Theatre, take this as your sign to GO!

Not only is this the LONG ISLAND PREMIERE of the DreamWorks musical, it brings the 1998 movie with the same name to life. It is the story of Egyptian Prince Moses who discovers his true roots as a Jewish slave, and heads on a journey to free his people. He begs his brother Rameses, the new pharaoh, and is denied. What follows is a series of horrific plagues throughout Egypt. The show couldn’t be complete without Moses parting the Red Sea to let his people be free. THAT MOMENT WAS MAGICAL ON STAGE!

I haven’t seen the animated movie since I was a kid, so I couldn’t remember all of it when I went in, so my expectations weren’t as high. BUT, the dancing, and most importantly the VOCALS, where absolutely sensational. I’ve been going to The Argyle Theatre for years, and they are consistently topping themselves each and every season.

This show proves, there can be miracles when you believe!
