he Britney Spears biopic is officially moving forward, and now everyone wants to know the same thing: Who is going to play Britney?

Universal Pictures is developing a movie based on Britney’s bestselling memoir, The Woman in Me, with Wicked director Jon M. Chu set to direct and Marc Platt producing.

The project recently took another step forward with New Girl creator Liz Meriwether working on the screenplay. Meriwether has said the movie is still early in the process and that she has been immersing herself in Britney’s story, music and memoir while developing the script.

But casting Britney Spears herself is obviously going to be a BIG deal.

While Universal has not officially announced an actress for the role, a new favorite has emerged.

According to current odds on prediction market Kalshi, Olivia Holt has the best chance of landing the role, with the actress sitting at a 31 percent probability at the time the odds were shared. Sabrina Carpenter was also among the names being predicted for the part.

And Olivia playing Britney may not be as random as it sounds.

The actress and singer has previously spoken about how much she admires Britney and has said that getting the opportunity to portray her would be a dream.

Other stars whose names have been thrown around by fans and the media include Sabrina Carpenter, Millie Bobby Brown and Emma Roberts, although none have been officially connected to the role.

One important distinction: Olivia being called the current frontrunner does not mean Universal has selected her or that she is necessarily the studio’s top choice. The ranking comes from prediction market odds based on who people believe will ultimately be cast.

For now, the role of Britney Spears remains officially open.

Considering Britney’s career spans everything from her childhood and The Mickey Mouse Club to becoming one of the biggest pop stars in the world, her highly publicized relationships and the 13 year conservatorship that controlled much of her life, whoever gets the role will have quite a story to tell.

Now the question is: Who would you cast as Britney Spears?
