Here Are 5 Helpful Tips For Voter Registration Day!

National Voter Registration Day, celebrated annually on the fourth Tuesday of September since 2012, is Sept. 22 this year.

The day is “a nonpartisan civic holiday celebrating our democracy,” according to the National Voter Registration Day campaign.

Here are 5 helpful tips to take part in Voter Registration Day:

1. Can I register to vote online? Yes, you can register to vote online in some states. More states are allowing people to register online if they have a driver’s license or a non-driver’s ID card issued by the state. You can check if you’re eligible in your state here.

2. Voter Registration Events Near Me: The National Voter Registration Day has a directory of planned events, both in-person and virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic, on its website. In New York, events are planned in Port Washington, West Harrison and several in New York City.

3. How To Vote-By-Mail In New York: More than 80 percent of American voters will have the opportunity to vote-by-mail in the upcoming Nov. 3 election, by far the most in U.S. history. Click here to download the absentee ballot application.

4. Intimidated by the mentioned voter options above? Download VoterPal. The app is designed to make every step of the process as clear and simple as possible. Start by opening the app and scanning your state ID. From there, VoterPal auto-populates your form with the relevant information so you don’t have to, all while taking your state’s voting rules into account. And if any details are missing, the app makes it easy to input them by hand in less than a few minutes.

5. Know What’s On Your Ballot: All eyes will no doubt be on the presidential election, with Republican President Donald Trump seeking re-election against Democratic challenger and former Vice President Joe Biden. But the Nov. 3 election will also feature political races at the state, county and local level in some places. Vote411.org, in addition to offering help with registering to vote, has information on what’s on your ballot.
