A Huntington cake artist just landed one of the sweetest assignments of his career.
Don Donneruno, better known as The Cake Don, was commissioned to create a custom cake celebrating SpaceX’s historic public debut during an exclusive private event in New York City honoring the milestone.
While details surrounding the celebration remain private, Donneruno shared that the event marked what was described as the largest IPO in history, making the cake one of the centerpiece attractions for the evening.
The towering creation looked more like a sculpture than dessert. Designed to resemble a futuristic launch tower, the cake featured intricate metallic detailing, hand-crafted astronauts, planets, and a massive rocket blasting off from the top. With the SpaceX logo serving as the backdrop, the edible masterpiece perfectly captured the company’s mission of pushing the boundaries of space exploration.
Known throughout Long Island for creating elaborate custom cakes for celebrities, athletes, and major events, The Cake Don has built a reputation for transforming nearly any concept into edible art. This latest commission adds another impressive project to an already remarkable portfolio.
Although Donneruno couldn’t reveal much about the private celebration itself, he said he was honored to play a small role in commemorating such a significant moment.
