Gas prices have gotten so high that Americans are officially entering their “whatever works” era — and one Georgia man may have found the internet’s favorite solution: a tiny pink Barbie toy car.
According to reports, handyman Mali Hightower retrofitted a child-sized Barbie Dream Camper with a small engine and now uses it to get around town after growing frustrated with painfully expensive fill-ups for his regular vehicle. While his normal car can cost close to $90 to gas up, the Barbie-mobile reportedly costs just a few bucks to run. In 2026, Barbie’s dream house might still be expensive, but apparently Barbie’s transportation budget is thriving.
The mini ride, which looks like something a toddler abandoned in the driveway, is actually street-capable and can reach real driving speeds. Which means somewhere in Georgia, drivers are sitting at red lights next to a grown man cruising in what looks like Mattel’s answer to a midlife crisis, silently wondering if he might actually be the smartest person there.
And honestly, can you blame him? With gas prices doing emotional damage to wallets everywhere, Americans may soon start getting creative. Today it’s a pink Barbie camper. Tomorrow? Someone’s commuting in a tricked-out Power Wheels Jeep while their coworker pulls into the parking lot on roller skates whispering, “I saved 80 bucks this week.”
At this rate, the phrase “fuel-efficient vehicle” might soon include anything powered by optimism and childhood nostalgia.
