The New York Mets commence their season today and that couldn’t begin before acknowledging the Long Island native and NYPD Officer, who passed away on duty, Officer Jonathan Diller. Citifield fell to a complete silence to honor the fallen hero.

The team also saluted iconic Mets player Bud Harrelson, who passed earlier this year. Harrelson’s family threw the season’s first pitch.
