MTV decides against hosting VMA’s at Barclays Center, opts for outdoor performances around NYC

MTV and Barclays released a joint statement saying: “The 2020 VMAs will pay homage to the incredible resiliency of New York with several outdoor performances around the City with limited or no audience, adhering to all state and city guidelines.”

Back in June, Governor Cuomo gave his approval to MTV to hold the well-anticipated MTV VMA’s at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. It appears that both MTV and the venue are taking their foot off the gas on this project, deeming it unsafe for those involved. MTV and Barclays released a joint statement saying: “The 2020 VMAs will be held on Sunday, August 30th and pay homage to the incredible resiliency of New York with several outdoor performances around the City with limited or no audience, adhering to all state and city guidelines.” Performances can be expected from Doja Cat, BTS, J Balvin, and perhaps even more artists now that they will be scattering performances across the boroughs! We are excited to see the show go down August 30th at 8 PM!
