New White House Press Secretary Is From Long Island & Makes History

So this is pretty cool, no matter where you stand politically! One of our own has made it to the White House! The new press secretary is from Long Island!

But that’s not all, Karine Jean-Pierre is also the first Black woman AND the first openly LGBT+ person named to the position.

Jean-Pierre says she was born in Queens, but moved to Hempstead as a young girl, where she attended Franklin Elementary and Kellenberg High School.
