In an exclusive interview with 106.1 BLI’s Nick Tangorra for the “Tangorra Takeover”, Tangorra introduced Guardino as “...an artist I’ve been able to call a friend for years, a Long Islander who’s consistently representing us in the best ways, and of course an America’s Got Talent Finalist!” During the interview that aired May 3rd, 2019, Guardino reflects on his time spent on America’s Got Talent and the moment judge, Howie Mandel, hit the golden buzzer; immediately advancing Guardino from the auditions to the finals.
“It’s such a shock and you don’t expect it.. When Howie said ‘If you had one wish right now.. anything on Earth what would it be?’”, Guardino said. He joked with Mandel adding “Probably the golden buzzer!”
And we couldn’t be happier with Howie’s reaction pressing the golden buzzer and changing Christian’s life forever! It was from there and his strong relationship with the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital that Guardino met American Country Music Star, Hunter Hayes!
“We met through Hunter through Children’s Miracle Networks and since I got treated in that hospital and I was on America’s Got Talent I got to be a National Champion and Spokesperson and Advocate for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Through that I met Hunter Hayes and he said that he was a fan of me and that he would love to spend some time in the studio together. As soon as he said that I’m looking at him like ‘What? You’re a fan of me? What are you talking about? That’s not right man I’m a fan of you!’”
It’s no shock to us that Hunter was a fan of Christian! With that smooth and soulful voice… How can you NOT be????
"Around July, we went to Nashville to see the studio. I thought it was just going to be 'ohh it's cool, sit in the studio, and hang out, watch how he's doing his thing'… first ten minutes he asked.. 'So I heard you have a song?' I go 'Ohh so where did you hear that from?'"
Guardino confessed he was at first a bit nervous to show his song to Hunter, but we're so happy that he did! "He(Hunter) starts playing a melody with the guitar and from there we built the track from the ground up in about five...six hours and about five, six hours later we had the song, 'Waiting'!"
