Halle Berry’s Arm Was Once Broken By Who?! Find Out with Today’s Random Facts! (in less than 90 seconds)

Halle Berry

It’s Thursday! Time for some random facts! And the cool part? Today’s random facts brought to you by Syke & MJ in the Morning Super Assistant Joe!

-- Did you know that high heels were originally worn by men?! Yup, true story. In the 10th century, men in Europe adopted the now-classic fashion choice of heels to make it easier to ride their horses. Adding heels to their boots made it easier to stay in their stirrups.

-- E.T. fans? I wonder if you knew that the sound of E.T. walking in the film was created by the squishing of somebody’s hands in jelly. Not sure if that’s cool or totally gross. I might have to change my feelings on peanut butter & jelly sandwiches now.

-- Familiar with stop signs? Yeah, you know, those big red & white octagons you see on the road? Well, they weren’t always red! Stop signs used to be yellow! The first stop sign appeared in Detroit in 1915 and for the first years of its use across the country, it was made in a wide range of colors, before settling on a consistent one in the 1920s: yellow. The idea was that this color would have the greatest amount of visibility for both day and night (red looked dark at night). That changed in 1954, with the invention of fade-resistant red coatings, which made it easier to spot.

-- Talk about getting tough on the set! Did you know that Robert Downey Jr once broke Halle Berry’s arm?! It was in 2003 when they were filming a scene for the movie "Gothika". He twisted it too hard, and the filming was shut down for eight weeks while she recovered.
