Preemie Baby Born To Long Island Mom In Coma Comes Home!

Baby

It’s been a tough few weeks for Adriana Torres & family, but we’re happy to report some good news!

You might remember Adriana’s story from April. She was in a coma at NYU Winthrop Hospital, due to complications from battling the Coronavirus. She was also pregnant at the time.

Adriana gave birth to Baby Leah, born 11 weeks early. While Adriana recovered & left the hospital, Leah had to stay in the hospital for 7 weeks. Now, she’s home!

Baby Leah left the hospital this week & is nearly double in weight. "This family's struggle to prevail through this pandemic sums up what so much of our country has gone through," said Dr. Nazeeh Hanna, chief of Neonatal Medicine at NYU Winthrop Hospital. "It was not an easy seven weeks. For our hospital, for our NICU, definitely for our nation."
