- etflix kicked off 2019 by giving Stranger Things fans something to look forward to.  The streaming service dropped the season 3 release date, July 4th 2019,  at exactly midnight.  The network released a cute retro video blending clips from Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, the actual 1984-turns-into-1985 edition, with typical Stranger Things doom and gloom. The video was cut through with weird computer glitches, and revealed a hidden message that read, "When blue and yellow meet in the west." Season 3 will be eight episodes long.  It’s set in the summer of 1985, jumping ahead one year from season 2.  At the Primetime Emmy Awards in September 2018, producer Shawn Levy told The Hollywood Reporter that filming would wrap in two months, making it November. He added, "cinematically, it's our biggest season yet."

Star Natalia Dyer, who plays Nancy Wheeler, echoed Levy, saying that, "This year it feels very ... big. I mean, [all the seasons] feel big, but this one feels maybe the biggest so far, so it's been good."
