For years, Americans have agreed on one thing: changing the clocks twice a year is annoying. Now, Congress may have finally done something about it. The U.S. House just overwhelmingly passed the Sunshine Protection Act, which would make Daylight Saving Time permanent, meaning no more “spring forward” or “fall back.” The bill passed by a bipartisan 308-117 vote and now heads to the Senate, where it’s expected to face a tougher fight.
If it eventually becomes law, we’ll keep those longer evenings year-round... but winter mornings could stay dark until nearly 9 a.m. in some parts of the country. Supporters say it’ll mean less sleep disruption, fewer accidents, and more daylight after work. Critics say kids waiting for the school bus in the dark isn’t exactly a bright idea. Either way, Americans are united on one thing: we’d all just like Congress to stop messing with our clocks... unless they’re making Monday mornings disappear too.
