On Monday, April 8th, Long Island will witness a one-of-a-kind Solar Eclipse that won’t take place again until 2079! The eclipse will be visible on Long Island, Westchester, and NYC. It’s due to happen in a 15-minute window between 3:15-3:30 PM. Upstate NY is due to experience “full totality,” which means they can experience full darkness for up to 4 minutes.
Long Island is outside of the area of “full totality,” meaning we likely won’t experience full darkness. But we should be able to see the sun eclipse. Be sure to view safely and have glasses appropriate for the occasion!
