WATCH THE BTS RECAP YOU WON’T SEE ON TV, HERE!
TRL returned to the place where SO much of pop culture legends were born, the epicenter of Y2K pop music.....MTV’s TRL Studio.
The highly anticipated TRL reunion was filmed in Times Square today, bringing some of the biggest names from the show’s iconic era back to MTV Studios to celebrate more than 25 years of music, screaming fans and unforgettable moments.
Carson Daly was back at the center of it all, along with former MTV VJs who were spotted outside greeting fans gathered in the streets. Ashanti, Nelly, JoJo, Michelle Williams and more were also among the familiar faces who showed up for the celebration.
One of the biggest moments came courtesy of *NSYNC. Four of the five members attended the reunion and gave fans a serious full circle moment when they stood together in the famous TRL windows overlooking Times Square, more than 25 years after the group helped define the era.
*NSYNC fans continued to show up in masses to show support, making signs, cheering them on and bringing some serious flashbacks of TRL energy from early 2000’s.
The reunion comes as nostalgia continues to have a major cultural moment, with fans increasingly calling for the MTV they grew up with to make a comeback on television.
As for exactly what happened inside the studio, those details are staying under wraps for now. Attendees were required to sign NDAs before filming, so much of what went down behind closed doors remain under lock and key. Phones were also locked while filming, so no content leaks prior to the shows premiere. But, we have fans from all over to thank for the footage of the iconic window, from below!
There is also no official word yet on when the TRL reunion special will air.
But seeing Carson Daly, *NSYNC and some of the biggest names of the TRL generation back in those iconic Times Square windows was enough to make millennials feel like home again.
