TV Commercial Volume Will NOT Raise Automatically Any Longer

At least it won’t in California.....

If you’ve ever nearly launched your remote through the TV because a commercial suddenly sounded like it was being announced by Godzilla with a megaphone, California has your back.

Starting July 1, the Golden State is requiring streaming services to keep commercials at the same volume as the shows you’re actually trying to watch. In other words, no more whisper-quiet drama followed by an ad screaming, “ARE YOU TIRED OF PAYING TOO MUCH FOR INSURANCE?!” loud enough to wake the neighbors. The new law extends the same rules that have applied to cable TV for years to streaming platforms.

Honestly, this might be the most universally popular law ever passed. It protects sleeping babies, dozing dads, and anyone who had their soul leave their body because they forgot an ad break was coming. Now, if only they could make this law a NATIONAL law.
