HUNTR/X

HUNTR/X

The fictional singing trio HUNTR/X merges sleek, confident pop, R&B, and pop-rap in songs from the Netflix animated film KPop Demon Hunters (2025). The girl group went head-to-head with the boy band Saja Boys while navigating supernatural forces with songs like "Takedown" and the worldwide hit "Golden" from the movie's internationally charting soundtrack.

HUNTR/X consists of Rumi (sung by Ejae), Mira (sung by Audrey Nuna), and Zoey (sung by Rei Ami), all of whom have separate dialog actors in the film (Arden Cho, May Hong, and Ji-young Yoo, respectively). In the story, the girls take on Saja Boys in the lead-up to an appearance at the Idol Awards. Meanwhile, audiences learn that the allegiances in play aren't necessarily as black-and-white as they seem.

Two versions of the song "Takedown" appear on the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack: one by HUNTR/X and another by real-life K-pop superstars TWICE. Ejae, Nuna, and Ami were also featured on the unity-promoting single "Golden" as well as on the songs "How It's Done" and "What It Sounds Like." In the early months of release, "Golden" cracked the U.K. Top 40 and entered the Top Ten in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Germany, and several other countries. The film's soundtrack album went all the way to number two on the Billboard 200 while topping the charts in Germany and Australia in addition to charting in the Top Five around the world. However, as word-of-mouth pushed viewership, KPop Demon Hunters was a veritable juggernaut, becoming the most-watched original title in Netflix history. The soundtrack album and "Golden" all climbed to number one on the main album/song charts around the world, winning MAMA and Melon Music prizes in 2025 and Golden Globe and Grammy Awards in 2026. ~ Marcy Donelson
