Authorities in northern Alabama seize $96K worth of drugs

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Authorities in northern Alabama seized $96,000 worth of drugs and arrested two men, police said Friday.

Agents with the North Alabama High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Task Force teamed with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Region 6 Drug Task Force and the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, AL.com reported. The agencies recovered 2 pounds of methamphetamine and 56 grams of cocaine, the website reported.

Authorities also seized a pair of handguns and $9,100, according to the Huntsville Police Department.

Arrested during the raid were two Kentucky men: Michael Lamont Bass, 52, and Craig Yolando Montgomery, 44, AL.com reported. Both men were booked into the Limestone County Jail and face charges of trafficking methamphetamine and trafficking cocaine.

Montgomery was on parole after serving time for drug and handgun offenses, according to Kentucky online corrections records.
