ANAHEIM, Calif. — Disney California Adventure Park will launch a food and beverage festival in mid-March, offering guests a taste of the attraction’s world-renowned culinary fare and rehiring more than 700 employees for the limited-time event.
In a letter to cast members, Disneyland President Ken Potrock said the festival will showcase food and drink offerings from across the resort, as well as the latest merchandise and “unique, carefully crafted entertainment experiences,” The Ocean County Register reported.

Specifically, the event is expected to bring more than 700 Disney cast members back to work, in addition to the 230 employees that have already “returned to work along Buena Vista Street,” the newspaper reported.
The Los Angeles Times reported that the special event will actually necessitate the rehiring of about 1,000 employees laid off after Disneyland and California Adventure Park closed amid novel coronavirus restrictions in March 2020. According to the Times, closer to 350 Disney staffers have already returned to work since July in Downtown Disney, a shopping district adjacent to the park featuring stores and eateries.
“This past year has presented extraordinary challenges, but that has not curtailed in any way our ability to move forward with a spirit of optimism,” Potrock stated in his Monday letter to employees.
It remained immediately unclear, however, how Disney intends to offer festival-goers entertainment without allowing them to congregate in violation of COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, the Times reported.
