Those arrested near an Interstate 55 exit included rapper Big Boogie, according to WHBQ. The vehicles were traveling to Biloxi, where the rapper was scheduled to perform Thursday night, Newsweek reported.

According to a news release from the Senatobia Police Department, Tate County 911 received a report of a shooting on I-55 near Coldwater just before 1 p.m. CDT. The caller pulled off the interstate in Senatobia and waited for officers at a Huddle House restaurant, according to the release.

Senatobia officers found the caravan and requested support from surrounding law enforcement agencies, WHBQ reported. When the caravan exited at a Batesville exit, police “coordinated a takedown” and arrested the 21 occupants of the four vehicles, according to the news releases.

Police investigating the person who called in the complaint at the Huddle House discovered a weapon, narcotics and cash, according to the news release. All three occupants of the vehicle were arrested, and at least one person was a convicted felon, the release stated.

It is unclear which vehicle Big Boogie was traveling in.

In another incident, the rapper was performing when shots were fired at a Mississippi rap concert in July 2020, WHBQ reported. Two people died, the television station reported.
