A criminal complaint obtained by WJAC filed by the Johnstown Police Department says officers were initially called to a home in the city by a “distressed woman” who told officers she had been tied up but was able to break free and call the police.

When officers arrived at the house, they forced their way into the building and saw a visibly shaken woman standing on one side of the kitchen and a man, identified as Daniel James Boyer, getting dressed on the other side, WTAJ reported. When police checked the rest of the house, they found two more women who had been tied up.

The women had been tied to a couch by their wrists and appeared to be bound with twine, WJAC reported.

While in the home, officers said they found dried pasta noodles, spaghetti sauce and Dawn dish soap on the floor by both the front and back doors of the home, as well as tripwires at the entrance to the kitchen, WTAJ reported. Police described the items as having been strategically placed to alert someone to movement or entry.

Police said that Boyer claimed to have met the woman through a mutual acquaintance and brought them back to his home to smoke methamphetamine, WJAC reported. After smoking, Boyer said the women were no longer awake, and he admitted to tying them up and attempting to have a sexual encounter with one of the women as she slept, the station reported.

Boyer allegedly told police that he got the idea from a website and that “it was part of a game,” WTAJ reported.

Boyer was taken to jail, where his bond was set at $1 million, WJAC reported.
