In honor of Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th Anniversary, it was announced Friday (Feb. 19) that the resort will be throwing “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” in its honor. The celebration is set to begin October 1.

It will bring new, magical experiences to the four theme parks, that will include new decorations that will “shimmer and sparkle all day and into the night.”

Some of the magical “EARidescent” experiences (a brand new term coined JUST for the celebration) will include:

• The Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom Park to feature “golden bunting and a 50th anniversary crest” and pixie dust at night.
• Nighttime experiences will involve magical fireflies at the Tree of Life (Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park) and special new touches to come The Hollywood Tower of Terror (Disney’s Hollywood Studios).
• Spaceship Earth at EPCOT will have new lights that resemble stars in the night sky, which is set to continue past the celebration as a permanent addition.
• New looks and fashion for Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, who will serve as hosts of the celebration.
